High-Performance Screed For A Large Site Installation

We recently completed a concrete floor screeding job at an active building site in Mansfield. The project involved covering a total of 160m², and we poured 13m³ of BreedonFlow fibre-reinforced material across multiple plots. The job was part of a larger construction schedule, meaning precise planning and efficient execution were essential to keep things moving on site.

BreedonFlow is a self-compacting concrete screed that’s ideal for large surface areas. For this job, we used a version reinforced with steel fibres, which adds extra strength and durability across the entire floor area. The result is a hard-wearing surface that is highly durable and reliable.

Fast, Even Coverage With Self-Compacting Material

BreedonFlow is designed to spread and level itself without the need for excessive tamping or vibration. This makes it particularly useful for covering larger spaces quickly and consistently. On this Mansfield site, it allowed us to pour and level efficiently, reducing installation time while still achieving a smooth, level finish across all areas.

The steel fibres built into the mix add internal reinforcement, resulting in a strong and stable floor that can handle future footfall and load without risk of cracking under pressure. This type of material is ideal for modern building projects where time, strength and reliability are all priorities.

Curing Agent Application

Once the screed was poured and levelled, we moved on to the final stage - spraying a curing agent over the surface. This is a crucial part of the process, especially for concrete screeds. The curing agent helps the floor dry at a consistent rate, making sure the material doesn’t dry too quickly, which can lead to cracking and surface damage.

Applying the agent correctly helps guarantee a longer-lasting finish, and it means follow-on trades can work with a set and durable floor base once their stage of the job begins. We take care to get this stage right every time, as it plays a major part in the long-term success of the screed.
